What is Draining Your Energy?

Do you feel pressure and anxiety when you look at the balance of your bank account, when you are already running late for a meeting and you HAVE to stop for gas, or when you have run out of clean essential clothing and there is no laundry detergent in the house?

Then, you do not have enough reserves.

A reserve is something stored or kept away for future use or need in every area of your life. It is not just about having a lot of STUFF. It is about having more than you actually need so that you can focus your time and energy on what is fulfilling to you.

Many people have very few reserves in their lives. In fact many are running on 'empty'. This creates tremendous fear, anxiety and stress. Worrying about not having enough (not enough money, time, love etc.) can become overwhelming and even debilitating. This level of stress can result in much more than just the loss of energy.

Building reserves in your life is essential to your sense of well-being. It is not a thing that is separate from yourself, but something that builds you up. Creating reserves in your life actually 'feeds' you and provides you with the energy to follow your passions and do what is most important to you. When you build reserves in your life, your life becomes effortless, you become more attractive and you can fully experience a sense of peace from within.

You need a reserve in at least 10 areas of your life:

  1. Time
  2. . An hour or two of time just for you is essential to adequately care for yourself.

  3. Space.
  4. You need room to breathe, think and just be, in order to stretch, grow and live up to your fullest potential.

  5. Money.
  6. You need to know that there is cash in the bank, or solid investments to more than adequately look after your present and future.

  7. Energy.
  8. This is what this whole series has been about – creating energy reserves so you can accomplish what you want you really want.

  9. Self.
  10. Taking the time to explore who you REALLY are (beyond the roles you play) allows you the ability to create what is truly important to you, as well as love and accept yourself for who you truly are.

  11. Integrity.
  12. You know when you are living your life in integrity. Are you keeping your word and living your life according to high standards?

  13. Wisdom.
  14. Taking the time to access your inner wisdom can be very powerful. It is also important to seek the wisdom of others who have gone before you.

  15. Information.
  16. This is different than wisdom. This is bringing into your life access to what you need to know in order to grow and succeed.

  17. Opportunity.
  18. Life is full of opportunities. The question is whether you are present and aware enough to actually notice them and embrace them.

  19. Love.
  20. Care, support and love from those around you are essential for you to fully blossom into the kind of person you want to be.

To begin building reserves in your life you need to do the following:

  • Look at the levels of reserve you have in each of the ten areas and honestly assess where you are right now. Write it down.
  • Choose the top three areas in which you would like to start building reserves, and write down how building a FULL reserve in each of these areas would look and feel. This vision for the future will give you the energy and momentum you need to create it.
  • Now start creating a plan. Ask yourself what tangible action steps you can take to start making your vision a reality. Write down at least 3 and begin. Remember that starting small with baby steps, will give you the confidence and feelings of success that you need to keep going.
  • Assess how your plan is working. Revise where necessary and keep going. Reward yourself for ongoing commitment and the progress you have made.

Tips to building reserves quickly in your life:

  • Begin stockpiling household essentials like toilet paper, paper towel, cleaning products, laundry detergent and canned goods. If you build up a reserve of at least 3 months worth, think of the amount of time you will save from constantly having to go to the store.
  • When your gas tank is half empty, fill it up. If you do this on a regular basis, you will never have to worry about running out of gas again.
  • When cooking a meal, make extra that you can then use for leftovers, or freeze, for days that you either don't have the time or you don't feel like cooking.
  • Whenever you do a project, complete it fully so that nothing can come back to haunt you.
  • Tell your loved ones how you feel on a regular basis. Be generous with your love and support and it will be returned to you.

Building reserves in your life is an excellent way to increase your energy, decrease your stress and manifest what you truly want. Remember, this is a process. Rome was not built on day. Take baby steps towards this important goal and before you know it you will begin to experience what it is you need and then some. How great is that?
