RICH GERMAN: I have this video blog, and four or five days a week-so pretty much every day Monday through Friday-I post a new video. This was several months ago now. I can’t remember when it was. I think it was February. I can’t remember. It was a few months ago. I had an epiphany. It was in my shower. I don’t know about you guys, but I typically have epiphanies in one of two places: one is while I’m sitting in meditation and these ideas just come to me, and the other is in the shower.
TAMMY LAWMAN: I hear so many people say that, and it happens for me that way, too. I think it’s a good place for people to think.
RICH GERMAN: We’re not distracted. We’re in there alone, and the ideas come. One morning I woke up. I was in the shower, and I had this epiphany. If you go to www.RichGermanTV.com, there’s a search bar at the top where you can type in anything. I think I called the video “Luckiest Person in the World.” If you just put in “luckiest person” or something like that, it will come up.
The epiphany was basically that I’m the luckiest person in the world. That was the epiphany I had. Why do I think I am the luckiest person in the world? The reason is that I’m living what I have now dubbed the ultimate win-win-win. Basically, what I do is I coach people to also live life’s ultimate win-win-win. The win-win-win is this, and this is what the book is based upon.
It stemmed from me having this epiphany in the shower and thinking, “I’m the luckiest dude in the world, and I want everyone to be the luckiest person in the world. Let’s write a book about it.” Here’s the win-win-win. I want you to think about, as I say this, a couple of things. Go into the feeling of it. If this was your life right now, how would that feel? If this is not your life right now, what can we do, if it feels good, to make some shifts so that you can create this as your life?
Pretty much everybody I’ve talked to about it says, “That’s a pretty darn good way to live your life.” Here’s the win-win-win: number one is you are doing what you love all day long. A minute ago we talked about how most people don’t love what they do, so that’s a big shift right there. You’re doing what you love. Whatever it is that you love to do, you’re doing it. As an example, what I love to do is to coach.
I love the lifestyle that I have, and I love coaching people to create a similar lifestyle. Right now as we’re talking at 4:24 p.m. California time or 7:24 in Florida/east coast time, is this work to me? No. This is play. I get to do what I love. Life doesn’t get much better than that. The second part of the win-win-win is that you create financial freedom while you’re doing what you love. That’s pretty darn good.
You’re doing what you love, and you’re creating financial freedom doing it. That’s a big yay right there. The third part of the win-win-win is that you are just incredibly happy all the time, and you’re making the difference that you’re here on this planet to make. You’re living your life on purpose. My belief is that everybody has a gift. Everybody has a purpose. Most people just aren’t living it for many reasons that we can get into.
That’s the win-win-win. To recap, you’re doing what you love and creating financial freedom while doing it. You’re totally happy all the time because you’re doing what you love all day long, and you’re really living your life on purpose. I’ve dubbed this the ultimate win-win-win. To me, life doesn’t get much better than that. That’s what I figured out in the shower. I’m really lucky. I created this. I realize that. I’m a lucky person.
Since then, I decided I’m going to write a book on this. This is what my coaching has kind of shifted into because I just want as many people who want it to have a similar life. It doesn’t mean you have to be a coach. It doesn’t matter what it is that you love. I don’t know how many people are on the line right now, but everybody has different passions. It doesn’t matter what it is. I’m convinced I can help you find a way to monetize that passion and create life’s ultimate win-win-win.
TAMMY LAWMAN: Awesome. I mean, it sounds great, but I can see there are people out there who aren’t living this amazing lifestyle. What keeps them from doing it?
RICH GERMAN: That’s perfect. First of all, you’re darn right. There are very many people who aren’t living it. It’s a small percentage of people. I’m convinced that the people who would be attracted to a call like this and the work that you guys are doing are people who are open to it. I also want to totally acknowledge that I’m very clear about what’s going on in the world right now with the economy. Times are tough for a lot of people.
If you have a job, even if you don’t love it, I’m not saying to call your boss tomorrow and tell them you’re not coming in tomorrow and never again. I’m not saying just go quit your job. I’m a big believer that you have to take care of yourself financially, and you have to take care of your family. That’s extremely important. Nothing is more important. A lot of people are in a situation that they don’t love. What I teach them to do is to create something on the side.
We can talk more about how. Build up a business based on your passion. Do it on the nights or weekends. You can moonlight. Do what you have to do. Put in the time to build it up, and then eventually get to the point where you can say, “I don’t like that job anymore. I don’t need it. I can do this full time and make a lot more money anyway and be happy.” I just want to be clear. I think it’s important to note that this is not for everybody.
Not everybody can do it. I feel that if you have a passion, anybody listening can do it. To answer your question, in the book I talk about three things. I basically lay out, “Here’s the win-win-win.” Most people then think, “That sounds really good, but…” The “but” is really three things. I call it three hurdles that would stop you from living the win-win-win. Number one is really what I coach people on 90% of the time.
The bulk of my coaching is around the first hurdle. That first hurdle is “I don’t believe,” as in “I don’t believe in myself. I’m not good enough. I’m not worthy.” I talk to people all day every day, and the number one limiting belief that I see is right there. We just don’t feel good enough. This is the crux of my coaching. I look at coaching this way. Look at your life as it is today. Let’s just call that your Point A. It’s your current reality or your life as it is today.
Like I said at the beginning, I hope your life today is really good. For a lot of people out there right now, life is a struggle financially and in relationships. It’s a hard world out there. I don’t like to sugar-coat it. Whatever your current reality is, that’s your Point A.
Then you have your Point B. Your Point B is your dream life. It’s your ideal lifestyle. Your life could not be any better than this life. That’s your Point B.
If we break it down into simple terms, there’s one thing that’s stopping you from Point B. That one thing is the four-letter F-word, and not the one you might be thinking. Of course, I mean the word “fear.”
