Low carb diets are passé

The South Beach Diet does not say that ‘carbs are bad’ or ‘fat is bad’ as is advocated in the conventional diet plans but it focuses on selecting the right kind of carbohydrates and fats to be incorporated in your diet plan. How it works

 

The diet is spread over three simple phases-

 

The first phase extends up to two weeks. In this phase, you will mainly learn what food you need to avoid and what food you can enjoy during the course of your diet. You will be taking three meals a day and three snacks between those meals. The snacks are compulsory to provide you greater meal satisfaction and to avoid those carb cravings! You can have fish, chicken, eggs, nuts and plenty of vegetables. But you need to avoid bread, rice, potatoes pasta and fruits. Don’t worry! All these will be added to your diet in the next few weeks. And don’t forget to stay away from candy, cookies, sugar and your favorite ice cream!

 

The second phase is tricky. In this phase you will slowly reintroduce the carbs like fruits and whole grain bread in your diet. Yes! You still need to stay away from those candy and sweets! There is no limit to this phase. It continues till the time you reach your weight loss goal.

 

The third phase is not a diet modification phase. Rather it is a time
where you continue with the diet plans according to the second phase but, you are totally reliant on yourself to make your meal choices.

 

Such a plan keeps you away from taking diet pills.

The South Beach Diet is not just another diet but it is a complete lifestyle change. It makes you aware of the effect of different foods on your body and how you can suit them to your needs. This knowledge remains with you all your life. But be patient! Like Rome wasn’t built in a day, you can’t lose in a day what took years to put on. Just don’t judge your progress by your pounds on the scale! The diet helps you to accomplish more than that. Add an aerobic exercise and you’re headed in the right direction!!
