Joshua Shafran was raised in the school of New York hard knocks. He earned his first $1M when he was 30 years old, in only 18 months. His dad, a professional musician, died because of lifestyle choices, when Joshua was young, inspiring his newly released video, “The Amazing Moneymaking Secret of a Desperate New York City Street Kid Who’s Now Deeply Grateful to His Deadbeat Dad.”

His wealth creation program centers on the 3 Barriers to success and how to overcome them.

TAMMY LAWMAN: My name is Tammy Lawman, and I’m your host. I’m super excited to introduce you to today’s guest. Joshua Shafran. Joshua, on behalf of the founders and listeners of the Intention Event, I’d like to welcome you and thank you for being with us today.

JOSHUA SHAFRAN: Thanks for having me, Tammy.

TAMMY LAWMAN: Let’s go straight to your success story. You were in your 30s when you had your first million via the internet business.

JOSHUA SHAFRAN: Yes Tammy. At 27 years old, I’d been married, separated, living on $5 a week and Ramen noodle soup. I went from that point in my life over a period of time of gradually figuring things out.

When I turned 30, that’s when I started to build my success through online business. At that age, I was already a grandpa in internet years. But in 18 months, I had turned it all around and was a millionaire.

When I last stopped counting, the sales that I’d generated were close to $100 million.
I’ve probably produced well in excess of $150 million to $200 million in gross revenue in the last nine or 10 years, almost entirely using the internet in one way, shape, or form.

TAMMY LAWMAN: Wow, that’s really amazing. A millionaire in 18 months.
Some might say that’s quite unbelievable.

JOSHUA SHAFRAN: It’s funny because I can just remember chasing the dream since I was 12 years old selling books on the streets of New York City, knowing, “One day I’m going to be rich. One day I’m going to find my way.” Everybody would say, “How’s that working out for you?” I’d say, “Not so great.” I tried everything. If it said I could make money with it, you can be sure that I’ve been there, done that, bought the t-shirt, and worn it proudly.

TAMMY LAWMAN: So what worked for you? How did you achieve that kind of success?

JOSHUA SHAFRAN: By the time I was 26 or 27 years old, I had over $65,000 worth of books, tapes, seminars, DVDs, and all sorts of training materials that were sitting on my shelves, collecting dust.

I was still kind of broke, but I was starting to get it together. At that point, I was still living on a friend’s couch, borrowing money, and trying to find my way in the world.

What I want to share tonight is that everybody wants to know about the exact tips and techniques I used to turn it around. I certainly can go in depth into specifics. What turned it around for me was that sitting on my bookshelves was $65,000 worth of techniques. Some of them, by the way, were excellent.

I wasn’t getting the results that were promised from them, not because the techniques didn’t work but because there was something missing in me. That’s why I’m so excited to participate in this Intention Event. What I started working on that turned it around for me was some of the inspirational inner game stuff combined with the outer game hardcore money-making strategies and techniques.

It was the combination of those two things and working on them in unison that really turned things around and put things into high gear for me.

TAMMY LAWMAN: And that turning point was the inspiration for your program on overcoming the 3 barriers of success. Tell us more about those 3 barriers. What made you think these are the major ones and not others that some might cite.

JOSHUA SHAFRAN: There are three of them, and they’re kind of in succession. But before we get into that, I just want to drill down for a second.

It’s not what I say is right for you or what any of the other speakers on this Intention
Event say is right for you. It’s you, the person sitting there trying to find their way.

What is your definition of success? I think that’s the most important place to start. What’s important to you? What do you want your life to look like? What do you want your lifestyle to look like? What kinds of things are you looking to accomplish? That’s exactly where the “intention” side of the equation fits into this process.

What is the intention that you say you have, not that anybody else says that you should have? What’s your intention for yourself? With that, we generally find that there are three barriers that you have to conquer to live your definition of success for yourself.

What I’m saying is that you should be totally aware of yourself because only you can identify those three barriers within you. Now you will ask yourself, “How will I identify those three barriers within me?”

Let me give you a few guideposts to look for so you can know where you are on the map on whatever barrier you are facing. I call them guideposts because they’re emotions that you’re going to be feeling inside.

These emotions are actually the stair step if you know what they’re about. Ask yourself these questions…
