There is a great group called The Women’s Alliance which provides its services to more than 50,000 women in transition by becoming part of their support system, helping them overcome significant employment barriers, and clothing them.  Along with providing providing professional clothes, their new exciting programs are providing career skills coaching and confidence to thousands of women througout America.

Programs like the Empowered Women’s Series, created and inspired by the #1 bestselling author of The Passion Test, Janet Attwood.  Successfully launching its first session on February 10th in Miami with rave reviews from women in homeless shelters all over Miami, this seminar was designed to reach as many women as possible, not only in the Miami area where programs like The Lotus House, Somerville Residences, and the Community Partnership for the Homeless participated, but also to other cities via teleseminars – conference calls set up to join in on these inspiring sessions anytime, and anywhere, a woman needs inspiration.

Authors like Marci Shimoff, NY Times Bestselling author of “The Chicken Soup Women’s Series” and star of the movie, “The Secret”, Lynne Twist, bestselling author of The Soul of Money, Lisa Nichols, bestselling author of Chicken Soup for the African American Soul and star of the movie, “The Secret”, Rickie Byars Beckwith, founder, Agape International Spiritual Center, Cynthia Kersey, NY Times bestselling author of Unstoppable Women, Byron Katie NY Times bestselling author of Loving What Is, Dr. Sue Morter from Morter Health, Jan Stringer, author of Attracting Your Perfect Customer, and, of course, Janet Attwood, and others, are all generously donating their time to create this incredible series.  Enlightened Alliances, LLC, providing tapes, packaging, books, etc, also sponsor the series.

Another exciting project in the works is The Passion Run, to be held March 31, 2007 in Miami.  With this event, The Power Behind the Passion group and Peterson’s Harley-Davidson of South Miami have undertaken the task of raising $10,000 for The Women’s Alliance.

Along with my friends, Linda Peterson of Peterson’s Harley-Davidson and Thomas Cook joined their passions to form Power Behind The Passion to prove that “it doesn’t matter where you come from – everyone has the power behind the passion – to do something that will ‘tilt the planet just a little bit’ and make a difference.”

The idea was simple enough.  Sparked by the idea of the “red paper clip blog phenomenon” started by Kyle MacDonald, Nicole decided to trade her copy of The Passion Test for a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, to then be raffled off for $1 million to benefit The Women’s Alliance.

One month after posting the book on Craigslist, the Power Behind the Passion team was able to “uptrade it” for all the parts with matching serial numbers to a 1999 Harley-Davidson motorcycle.  This special Tigertail bike will then be auctioned off at a national event, benefiting The Women’s Alliance.

On March 31st, guests will assemble at Chapter 2, a project of The Women’s Alliance located in Overtown, Miami for a VIP photo opportunity.  Guests will then be led via police escort to the Peterson’s Harley-Davidson South Dealership for an All-American Easy Rider Affair, a VIP Reception, and Auction event in a 1969 themed drive-in theatre with corporate couches set up in the 10,000 sq ft parking lot under the stars to enjoy the infamous Easy Rider movie on the big screen.

Everyone and Everything Deserves a Second Chance.  Chapter 2™, The Women’s Alliance’s hip new resale store located at the historic Dorsey House (the former home of Mr. DA Dorsey, Miami’s first black millionaire philanthropist) 250 NW9th Street in Overtown, Miami is another inspired idea.  The idea is to share the best practices of its design with other Alliance members to start offering the same in their regions.  Currently, the revenue generated from Chapter 2™ is poured directly back into the programs to continue their mission of providing professional attire and career skills.  Chapter 2™ itself is a training site for women in transition, teaching customer service skills to women, providing much needed experience and training for them to move forward into employment.  One such participant has already moved on to find a job at The Gap with the skills she learned interning at Chapter 2™.
