TAMMY LAWMAN: What do you consider something to be when you call it a “million dollar idea”?
NORM LAPALME: A million dollar idea could be many things. Of course, at first, we always say we want to make a million dollars. That is obvious. Really, I want people to think they’re going to serve a million people in their lifetime with it. I’m thinking more of service than I am talking about money. I believe that you can never create abundance in your life if you’re trying to create abundance. You always create abundance when you’re serving and having so much fun that you don’t care.
That’s when abundance is running after you. This is what I did in my own small town of less than 5,000 people. When my father passed away, 300 people came to see my father to pay tribute and say thank you. I said, “Thank you for what?” When it’s your dad, you don’t really get the feeling. They were saying thank you because he gave them great advice, and out of that, 20 millionaires were created. In a small time of only 5,000, we have over 40 millionaires.
TAMMY LAWMAN: Those are pretty good odds.
NORM LAPALME: They’re pretty good odds. I have a little shark in my office. He’s in a bottle. He represents to me that you can only go to the size of your environment. Environment means your friends, thoughts, the people you hang around with, and the projects you’re involved in.
TAMMY LAWMAN: I hope everybody who’s listening to this is listening carefully because this is a theme that has been consistent with all of the speakers we’ve had on the Intention Event so far. One of those is that you start by serving others, and the other one is that you have to watch the kind of people you surround yourself with.
NORM LAPALME: It’s funny you say that. I was just asked on another call before, “How can we get rid of the people who are not serving us right now in our life?” I said, “There’s only one way. If you try to get rid of something like a bad cold, you always get stuck with it. It’s not by getting rid of it.” This is what I call action by fear. If you’re taking action to get rid of something, it always sticks with you.
If your action-taking is coming from a position of power, meaning you’re doing it for all the right reasons and you’re moving in the right direction, these are the actions that will create results. What I shared with this group before is that what you need to do is be focused on four things that you want for your life. My clients come into my office and say, “Norm, I don’t want this anymore. These people are very negative. What do I do?”
“Tell me the four things you really want. What do you want now?” As I get this person to really sit down and tell me four things that she wanted, I say, “The only thing I want you to do from now on is to focus on this.” When I teach the Law of Attraction, I always say the Law of Attraction or the Power of Attraction is that you have the power to act. It’s to give your attention to what you want when everything around you proves you do not.
TAMMY LAWMAN: To get rid of all these negative things, you have to eliminate them from your thought process.
NORM LAPALME: It starts with your thought process. You can never get something outside physically in your life that is not there. It’s almost like how I’ve been in the fitness industry for 15 years. You cannot lose weight if inside of you, you still feel like a fat person. You have to start with an inside job. It’s the same thing by getting negative people out of your life.
You have to look inside. “What do I want? Who do I want to be? I have to stick to that.” By sticking to your guns, people will either be attracted to you, or they’ll move away without doing anything. That’s why I say it has to be easy and effortless. When you’re becoming yourself, you’re attracting people who are aligning with your vibration and energy. When they do not, they move away.
